Last literary gathering of the academic year at Fontenebro International School

Last June, the last literary gathering of the course took place.

We had the opportunity to share comments and opinions about The Married Portrait, a historical novel by Maggie O’Farrel that places us in the Florence of the Medici and interweaves history and fiction with a unique and characteristic style of O’Farrel.

Once again, a very enriching meeting thanks to the contribution of the most varied opinions from the attendees, who always offer very diverse views on the reading carried out, adding great value to these meetings.

And with this gathering we end a year of readings, which this year were characterized by being brief, but not lacking in great literary quality.

Variety in the broadest sense of the word, both in themes and authors, eras and styles, continues to be the criterion used to select the readings we do each month in the Literary Gatherings with Coffee.

I would like to say goodbye to this course by leaving some recommendations on readings, which, for very different reasons, may be of interest to you and which you will be able to enjoy during the summer.

  • Lincoln Highway, Love Towles.
  • Unworthy of a human being, Osamu Dazai.
  • Almudena, Luis García Montero.
  • The meditations of Marcus Aurelius.
  • Women of my soul, Isabel Allende.
  • My family and other animals. Gerald Durrell
  • Bugs and other relatives (second part of the previous book)

Wishing to resume our meetings again,

Beatriz Dapena Testa.
