Mike West, new Head Teacher – Fontenebro International School

Fontenebro International School is pleased to announce the appointment of Mike West as the new Head of School. With an outstanding professional career and a strong commitment to education, Mike West will assume this role with the vision of consolidating the institution’s high academic achievements and continuing to promote an international learning environment that fosters curiosity and confidence in students.

Mike West has a degree in Administration and Public Policy Development from the University of Birmingham. In 2000, he moved to Spain accompanied by his young family, driven by a deep passion for teaching. Throughout his career, he has gained valuable and diverse experience in education, holding roles at military academies and the British Council before joining Fontenebro International School in 2012.

Since arriving at Fontenebro, Mike has demonstrated his versatility and dedication, teaching a wide range of subjects, including English, science, drama and ICT, at various stages of education. His commitment and ability to inspire students led to him being appointed Director of Learning in 2022. In this role, he played a key role in the implementation of the International Primary Curriculum in Primary, as well as maintaining a strong focus on continuous improvement . of learning throughout the school.

During the 2020-21 academic year, Mike West took on the role of interim principal, guiding the school through the challenges of the pandemic with great leadership and resilience. His management during this period was key to maintaining the educational quality and well-being of the school community.

Now, as Principal of Fontenebro International School, Mike West aims to combine academic excellence with an educational approach that prepares students with life skills, allowing them to reach their full potential and become confident, curious learners prepared for the challenges for future.
